A 5m Christmas tree made of drinking straws, created by Akira Takahashi, was displayed at the Melia at Scotts Hotel's lobby lounge in Dec 1990. Takahashi, the hotel decorator, spent one month tying and twisting the drinking straws by his bed every night.
