Dr Tan Jee Lim performed the first meniscal transplant in Singapore at CGH. The surgical procedure was performed on Nitesh Gurung, 17, on 30 Nov 2001. The meniscus is a ‘C-shaped’ pad in the knee acting as a shock absorber and makes the motion of the knee smooth. A graft was implanted in the knee using key-hole surgery.
