The Risis Orchid developed in 1976 by Dr Lee Kum Tatt and his team at the Singapore Institute of Standards and Research as an answer to finding Singapore’s national souvenir. The real orchids were dipped in 22 carat gold. It became popular with locals as well as tourists and won the first Best Tourism Souvenir Award in 1985. |
