Data Info |
Singapore-born Edward Craven Walker invented the Lava Lamp, the lighted display of coloured globs of oozing oil suspended in liquid. Originally named the Astro Lamp, it was launched in 1963 just ahead of the craze for all things psychedelic. In 1965 he sold the rights of his design to two American entrepreneurs who renamed it Lava Lamp. At their peak, more than seven million lamps were sold around the world each year. The lamp’s formula of oils, wax and other solids remain a secret. |
