The SAF, DSTA and ST Kinetics have, in 2005, designed and developed the only working system in the world that can programme a bomb to explode in the air or on impact. The 40-mm Air Bursting Munition System (ABMS), fired from automatic grenade launchers, is more effective against targets hiding behind walls or on rooftops. As the round detonates, it send an explosive shower of over 300 metals spheres in all directions over a radius of 12m. |
