Using a new optical fibre backbone to link up all the existing campus networks, NUS set up the first true campus-wide network known as NUSNET, which was linked to the internet. When NUSNET went into operation in Aug 1990, the 64-kbps internet link between NUS and Princeton University was fully functional, making NUS the home of the first internet site in Singapore and the region. |
