Maggie Theng was the first Singaporean to break into the competitive Taiwanese industry. In 1981, Theng topped the Taiwanese charts with Qian Yin. The album sold more than 200,000 copies, a remarkable feat by a Singaporean artiste even by today’s standards. Theng has cut more than 50 albums, including three in English.
