Malayan Airway Ltd changed its name to Malaysia-Singapore Airlines in 1966 after the separation of the two countries in 1965. MSA was jointly owned by the Singapore and Malaysian governments. In 1972, it separated into the present Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airway System.
