The first national skimboarding championship was held at East Coast Park on 18 Dec 2005. The sport combines skateboarding and surfing and uses custom-made wooden and/or high-end fibre-glass boards. Over 100 amateur and seasoned skimboarders participated in the event organised by the South East CDC and Skim Asia.
