Kalai Vanen, who had his leg amputated as a result of cancer in 1987, became the first amputee in Asia to learn how to water-ski under the Water-Skiing for the Disabled Programme. He competed with another Singaporean amputee, Derek Lauchenco, in the 1992 Malaysia Open Water-Skiing Championships. |
