Ang Peng Siong set a world record at the US Swimming Championships with a time of 22.69 sec in the 50-m freestyle. In the same year he won the gold in the 100-m freestyle at the 9th Asian Games in New Delhi. He was crowned Sportsman of the Year by the SNOC for three years in a row. Ang won golds at the 12th and 13th SEA Games in 1983 and 1985 for the 100m. He also won a gold at the 16th and 17th SEA Games for the 50-m freestyle. |
