Wong Peng Soon (1918-1996) was the first Asian to win the All-England Championships four times from 1950 to 1952 and in 1955. His consecutive wins from 1950-1952 gave him the privilege of retaining the All-England Cup.
In 1948, his team was the first to win the Thomas Cup, the first world-class badminton tournament. He was also the undisputed singles champion in Singapore for seven times and Malaya for eight times during the 1930s through the 1950s. |
