Mardan Mamat became the first Singaporean to be named Johnnie Walker Golfer of the Month in Aug 1994. He was also the first amateur golfer to receive the award. The Johnnie Walker Asian Player of the Month has the official backing of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation. It aims to encourage talented, up-and-coming golfers on the Asian Tour and their own PGA circuits.
