25,000 Yishun residents celebrated National Day in their own grounds opposite the Northpoint Shopping Centre. From morning till night on 9 Aug 2005, they picnicked and enjoyed stage performances and specially selected picnic food recommended by KF Seetoh of Makansutra. Ten busker groups were also present to entertain the crowd. Stroller musicians, Mardi Gras dancers, Samba dancers, fire eaters, jugglers, stilt walkers, yoyo artistes, caricaturists, balloon sculptors and crowns mingled with the audience and performed stunts in their midst. |
