NUS lecturer Dr Kua Harn Wei completed 10 Ironman triathlons in 10 days on 6-15 Nov 2006. The event was the first Deca-Iron Triathlon World Challenge in Monterrey, Mexico. Every day for 10 days in a row, Kua swam 3.8 km in an indoor heated pool, cycled 180 km on a paved circuit and ran 42 km on that same circuit. He was part of the national triathlon team in 1997 and 1998. He then graduated to doing the Ironman, then the double and quintiple-Ironman over 14 years. The Deca-Iron is the world’s longest Ironman competition ever. |
