Khoo Swee Chiow and Edwin Siew, both Singapore permanent residents then, reached the 8,850-m summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, on 25 May 1998. On 2 Jun 2005, Teo Yen Kai became the first Singaporean to scale the same peak, as part of the NUS team commemorating its 100th anniversary. |
