The Malayan Grand Prix was organised in 1962 by the then Ministry of Culture. Its first winner was Jaguar driver, Yong Nam Kee. When Singapore gained independence, it formed its own Grand Prix with the first races held on 9-11 Apr 1966. Lee Han Seng, driving a Lotus 22 won the race. The Singapore Grand Prix lasted until 1973.
