Thousands of Singaporeans at various locations, from schools to wedding dinners, cooperated to fold a total of 2,148,725 paper lotus flowers. The display at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza on 6-7 May 2006 comprised a colossal 32-ft lotus with 20 gigantic petals, making it the largest origami installation art exhibited in Singapore. The paper-folding exercise was organised by The Singapore Buddhist Federation in celebration of Vesak Day 2006. |
