John and Helen Taylor, founding members of the Singapore Book of Records, returned to London on 4 Apr 2006 after having driven round the world in 78 days. Their Volkswagen only had 24 fill-ups for the entire expedition, breaking the Guinness record for fuel economy. They travelled 28,970 km using only 1,303 litres of Shell fuel.
