Henry Tan Yoke See started competing in 1968 and won a silver medal at the Asia Invitational in Hong Kong in 1969. He won the Masters title at the CPA Far East Championship held in Jakarta in 1972. He also won the all-events gold medal at the 8th SEAP Games and the silver (duo) at the 1975 World FIQ. He was awarded the Sportsman of the Year award for his world-class performances in 1970 and 1975. After a brief hiatus caused by an injury, Henry Tan made a comeback in 1979 and won the Masters Title at the National Championships held in the same year. He served as player- assistant coach for the national team in the 12th SEA Games held in Singapore in 1983. He was part of the men’s teams of three and five which both won gold medals. The national team swept seven out of nine gold medals at stake. For his work as assistant coach, Henry Tan was selected by the SNOC as Best Coach in 1983. |
