The Singapore Lantern Festival in Singapore is the largest lantern festival in the region. It started in 1975 with 500 children carrying Chinese lanterns at the Chinese Garden. 103,000 lanterns were displayed during the Lantern Safari 2005, including a record 100,000 lanterns given away.
