WORLD'S LARGEST NUMBER OF GOLFERS TEEING OFF SIMULTANEOUSLY - WORLD RECORD

On the 19 February 2006 great tee-off, out of a total of 1,738 golfers who attempted the record, more than 80% or 1,453 golfers met the criteria set by the Guinness World Record office. For their attempts to be counted, each participating golfer had to concurrently tee off from a teeing box measuring 5 metres square into a target area of 60 degrees from the front of the tee box. The ball also had to travel a minimum distance of 91 metres.
The world record attempt was mooted by NUS alumni members to commemorate the University’s Centenary. The event was graced by President SR Nathan. Participants were able to tee off at any of the 13 participating golf clubs island wide.
